The Bridal Mehndi January 02, 2023

  • Mehndi (henna) is an ancient form of body art originating in India, across South Asia and the Middle East. It is one of the oldest pre-wedding traditions in Bangladesh during which henna is intricately applied to the bride’s palms, hands, and feet. Designs symbolise various blessings, luck, joy, and love.

During the Mehndi, our closest female friends and family can also choose to have henna applied.

  • There is no dress code - this is a casual evening amongst close friends and family in Eshtiaque’s home.

If you do plan to get henna done, we recommend you wear a short sleeved t-shirt.

  • Venue: Eshtiaque’s home in Gulshan

    Time: 7:00 PM

The Sangeet January 03, 2023

  • The Sangeet, which translates to “music,” is a wedding festivity filled with vibrant colors, delicious food, and fun music. Of course, it wouldn’t be a Sangeet without the song and dance.

Traditionally, the choreographed performances are a fun way for families and friends to tell the bride and groom’s story through song and dance. These are meant to be fun and light hearted - it’s all about having a good time, sharing love and laughter, and celebrating.

So get ready to get your groove on because yes, you are expected to group up with friends and prepare a dance performance. Don’t worry if you aren’t the best dancer - just have fun and get creative with it.

  • Tips on how to prepare a dance, music ideas, and some inspirational examples you can use as reference will be shared soon. Once we get all RSVPs, we will put together a chat so you can choose how to group up with friends for your dance.

  • We know that for most of you, this will be your first time visiting Bangladesh, which is why we would love for you to fully take in this experience and wear traditional dress if you feel comfortable in doing so. Clothing for this event is colourful, festive, and meant to be danced in.

We will share details on this soon to help you navigate the dress code, whether you decide to wear traditional clothing or not.

  • Venue: Shaheen Deep, an untouched island surrounded by tropical green and snuggled in the middle of Dhaka Cantonment, unknown to many residents of the city

    Time: 10:00 AM-4:00 PM

The Wedding Reception January 05, 2023

  • The wedding reception will be the formal event and dinner, which would conclude the celebrations. Unlike the Bridal Mehndi and the Sangeet, which are more intimate events, the reception will host more people and be a much larger scale.

You and close family and friends will be seated close to us, but it wouldn’t be a Bengali and Lebanese wedding without a lot (and we mean a lot!) of guests, so be prepared to mingle.

  • Dress code is wedding formal.

Men should wear a suit and tie.

Women should wear mid or long length dresses. It can be long sleeved, short sleeved, or sleeveless. This is an evening event and temperatures could get a bit cooler, so do bring a light scarf/shawl or a light jacket to cover up just in case it gets chilly. Please do not wear anything too short or too revealing.

Remember: there is no such thing as being too overdressed at a Bengali and Lebanese wedding.

  • Venue: Shena Kunja in Dhaka Cantonment

    Time: 7:30-10:30 PM
